But what exactly is a SIC zone?
A SIC area (Site of Community Interest) is aimed at the conservation of natural habitats and animal and plant species of community interest and is designated to protect biodiversity.

The SIC area of Butera is home to flora and fauna that are very sensitive to climate change.
In this place the swallows find their home and nest in spring; the posidonia pours onto the beach, an indication of healthy and clean waters; the air is pure, respect for the biodiversity of the total territory. In the site there are many endemic species, one above all the white broom and the beautiful sea lily. Not only that: in the territory there are also several other faunal entities of significant zoogeographic interest, just think of the broods of sea turtles (caretta caretta) and, which nests from the end of March to July.
The presence of a refectory nest is always an excellent sign of the health of a marine environment and a beach that is properly protected and preserved.
